10 Rules to Make Your Photographs Look More Professional
4)        S curves and diagonals
Notice how the diagonal draws the viewer’s eye?  Or is it the bikini?

5)        Shoot people at sunrise, sunset or on an overcast day – The light is
much more flattering near sunrise or sunset.  During an overcast day, the
clouds diffuse the light, also minimizing shadows.
In the 1st photo, the harsh overhead sun casts unflattering shadows under the
model’s eyes.  The 2nd photo was taken near sunset and is much more
flattering.  It works best with the sun behind the photographer and off to the side.
You just have to make sure the sun is not shining directly into the subject’s eyes.
Squinting is also unflattering.

6)        Direct how your subject poses
         a.        Look out of the side of your face – A straight forward or profile image is great for mug shots
and drivers licenses.  Not so much for good photos though.
